Wicked

Wicked

WICKED, the West End and Broadway musical sensation, is already the 9th longest running musical in London theatre history. Winner of over 100 major awards, including three Tony Awards, two Olivier Awards and ten theatregoer-voted WhatsOnStage Awards (winning ‘Best West End Show’ on three separate occasions), the classic musical has now been seen by almost 10 million people in London alone. ‘Packed with wit, storming songs and beautiful costumes’ (The Guardian), WICKED imagines an ingenious backstory and future possibilities to the lives of L. Frank Baum’s beloved characters from ‘The Wonderful Wizard of Oz’ and reveals the decisions and events that shape the destinies of two unlikely University friends on their journey to becoming Glinda The Good and the Wicked Witch of the West

Amelie

Amelie

Amélie The Musical, based on the much-loved, five-time Oscar®-nominated film, will transfer to the West End this Christmas following its current UK tour, and its sell-out season premiere at the Watermill in Newbury in April. Starring French-Canadian stage and screen star Audrey Brisson as ‘Amélie Poulain’, and the original Watermill cast, this beloved story of an imaginative and shy romantic with a gift for helping others, in a vibrant re-conception with new orchestrations, has garnered critical and public acclaim and will play at The Other Palace from 29 Nov 2019 to 1 Feb 2020. Amélie is the story of an astonishing young woman who lives quietly in the world, but loudly in her mind. She secretly improvises small, but extraordinary acts of kindness that bring happiness to those around her. But when a chance at love comes her way, Amélie realises that to find her own contentment she’ll have to risk everything and say what’s in her heart. Although times are hard for dreamers, Amélie is someone to believe in…

The Pulitzer Prize-winning play SWEAT by Lynn Nottage is transferring to the West End's Gielgud Theatre for 50 performances only following a sold-out run at the Donmar Warehouse. Based on interviews with residents of the rustbelt town of Reading, Pennsylvania, this 'breathtaking new play' (The Guardian) delivers 'a knock-out blow of theatrical force' (Daily Telegraph) as it examines the lives of factory workers facing de-industrialisation. As friendships strain under fear, anger and racial tensions, a devastating outcome awaits the divided community.

The End of History

The End of History

“No talent at all when it comes to cooking – as you will discover – but when it comes to pissing off my children – immense talent – Olympian talent.” Newbury, 1997. Sal is attempting to cook dinner for the family. She and husband David have pulled off a coup and gathered their brood back home for the weekend. Eldest son Carl is bringing his new girlfriend to meet everyone for the first time; middle daughter Polly is back from Cambridge University for the occasion; and youngest Tom will hopefully make it out of detention in time for dinner. Sal and David would rather feed their kids with leftist ideals and welfarism than fancy cuisine. When you’ve named each of your offspring after your socialist heroes, you’ve given them a lot to live up to… “When I was your age I wanted to be in a band and sleep with Mick Jagger – and Jimi Hendrix – so who am I to judge the choices you’ve made so far?”

Our Lady of Kibeho

Our Lady of Kibeho

In 1981 at Kibeho College in Rwanda, a young girl claimed to have seen a vision of the Virgin Mary who warned her of the unimaginable: Rwanda becoming hell on earth. She was ignored by her friends and scolded by her school but then another student saw the vision, and another, and the impossible appeared to be true.   Katori Hall’s Our Lady Of Kibeho presents us with a haunting insight into the true events that captured the world’s attention. A vibrantly theatrical meditation on faith and everyday miracles, it was hailed “the most important play of the year” by The Wall Street Journal when it premiered in New York in 2014. It is directed by Royal & Derngate Artistic Director James Dacre, who premiered Katori Hall’s The Mountaintop which won the Olivier Award for Best New Play in 2010.   Featuring stirring original music, the London premiere of Our Lady Of Kibeho promises to be an epic event.
